Seventy-three licensed shooters took part in a crow shooting operation organised by Selayang Municipal Council (MPS).
The shooting operation was on Aug 2. From 6am to 8pm, a total of 1,719 crows were killed. Almost the whole of Selayang was covered — from Gombak Setia to Kepong.
Officer-in-charge of operations, Mohd Zin Mat Sada, said they encourage more shooters to take part as they want to rid the area of this menace. The shooters were paid RM4 for each bird.
The council has been carrying out the crow-shooting operations since 1999 on an annual basis.
