MALAY MAIL’S front-page stories over the past two days on the Federal Highway Rebana Ubi arch have garnered the attention of prominent bloggers in Malaysia.
Stephen Francis of Shanghai Fish, in his blog posting "Arch of silence", said: "It will be interesting to know why so many parties are denying participation in this project.
"Why is Jakim’s good name being dragged in here? Is this a final attempt of the Islam Hadari directive to leave the stamp of their presence in their short-lived tenure?
"And the notice issued by Syabas of water disruption in the area — surely Syabas won’t take things into their hands without an issued directive."
He added: "Questions aplenty, denials even more and something smells like rotten fish here. The plot thickens and as I read the story for the second day and it gets more and more interesting, folks!
"I must say "kudos" to the pains-taking and tireless team who are on this story!"
The Star’s group chief editor Datuk Wong Chun Wai in his blog New Malaysia under the posting "Equally blur in Kuala Lumpur", lambasted the project saying "we do not need any white elephant".
Former Malay Mail editor, now a blogger, Ahiruddin Attan of www.rockybru.com.my, also touched on the subject in his posting "A Hadhari Arch for KL".
He said: "I don’t know how much people are making from the project. I’ve been told that one fine day this Hadhari Arch will be as famous as London’s Marble Arch."
