AFTER six days of batting, bowling and fielding in hot and humid conditions, participants of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Trophy Elite 2008 last night got to relax and unwind at the tournament’s official dinner at the Crown Princess, Kuala Lumpur.
Jointly organised by the ACC and Tourism Malaysia, the event was attended by over 200 players from the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Nepal, Singapore, Qatar, Kuwait and hosts Malaysia, as well as tournament officials.
The guest-of-honour for the night was Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob. Also present were Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) president Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja’afar.
Entertainment was provided by local traditional dancers, the Royal Malaysian Air Force band The Air Voice Seni Udara and singer Atilia.
As the tournament’s official newspaper, Tunku Imran presented a commemorative plague to Malay Mail which was represented by sports editor Mustapha Kamaruddin.
