![]() Soccer > Premier League: Save the boos for boring Blues
The Red Devils are also the Daredevils, we get a big kick out of saving it for the last. We revel in the drama and the danger, for the climax is more orgasmic this way. We could have snatched it at Stamford Bridge last week but Chelsea’s 12th ‘player’ that night — the linesman or referees assistant as they are now known — saved their hides with a dubious penalty decision. We are all too familiar playing against 12 and sometimes 13 men on the pitch. We live for that kind of injustice. While teams like Chelsea will complain and whine, United take it in their stride. I thought i t was so degrading for Chelsea boss Avram Grant and Michael Ballack to demand professionalism from United’s opponents. Look you losers, get over it, and get used to this: The Premier League and the Champions’ League are there for the taking. United are going to lift those two coveted trophies, and in style too. Style is a language totally alien to Chelsea. They are the epitome of dull football and poor ambassadors of the beautiful game. I cannot understand why Chelsea fans exist. Clearly these people are not lovers of football. Because if you love football, you can’t possibly love Chelsea. Simple reason is, they do not play football. Mind you, long hit-and hope balls are not football. If that is what you call football, you must be an American. They have spent a lot of money and while money can buy you the best players, it doesn’t buy you class. United are entertaining, exude class, flair and smooth attacking football. Pure brilliance. Chelsea have no character, no tradition, and no history. I can’t help but feel sorry for their fans. They must be taught a lesson, that money can’t always buy success. Spend your millions on the youth system Chelsea, it will benefit you in the long run, or at least invest in good scouts who could land you bright prospects for the future. What future is there when £30 million (RM186 million) is splashed on a 30-year-old Ukrainian way past his prime? Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Nani, Anderson were virtual unknowns when United bought them. They have prospered into world class players. That is what good scouts at Old Trafford do. Plus their youth system is second to none, justified by the class of 1996, with the likes of David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and the Neville brothers. Recent products are Wes Brown, Darren Flether, John O’Shea. Other than John Terry, name one player who has come through the ranks at Chelsea?
