NEW YORK: Wall Street stocks slid yesterday with sentiment hurt by a lacklustre response to Citigroup's share offering that prompted the US government to delay the sale of its stake in the banking giant.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 132.86 points (1.27 per cent) to close at 10,308.26 and the Nasdaq
shed 26.86 points (1.22 per cent) to 2,180.05.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 13.10 points (1.18 per cent) to 1,096.08.
