This win was Everton's sixth on the bounce and sees them leapfrog Fulham and Birmingham into eighth place in the standings.

LONDON: Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has injury concerns over influential Tom Huddlestone after seeing the midfielder stretchered off during their 2-1 win over Everton at White Hart Lane yesterday.

Huddlestone had to depart in the 52nd minute after he was brought down by Everton's John Heitinga, who clipped the 23-year-old as he looked to set up a Spurs counter attack.

LONDON: Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill has given his blessings to early proposals for a playoff for the fourth Champions League place.

The idea is understood to have been raised at a recent meeting of all 20 Premier League clubs, and may well be aired again when the next meeting takes place in April.

At present, the top four places in the Premier League are guaranteed a Champions League spot, either directly into the competition or via a qualification round.
