POLICE have arrested a 19-year-old teenager in connection with the beating of form four pupil Mohd Khairul Nizam Mohamad who is now fighting for his life at the Intensive Care Unit in Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Gombak district police chief ACP Abdul Rahim Abdullah said police are still hot on the heels of three other suspects, said to be the ones who repeatedly hit the 14-year-old with motorcycle helmets outside a cybercafe in Rawang town on Saturday evening.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 for causing hurt with a dangerous weapon or means.

POLICE found a hand grenade in the home of a 27-year-old unemployed man, who had aimed a pistol at his father, a Datuk, on Tuesday night.

According to police, an argument broke out between the father and son late Monday night, causing the son to threaten the father by pointing the gun at the father’s head.

The Datuk, who had previously worked for a former senior political figure, was able to escape from the situation and lodged a report with the Petaling Jaya police.

Custodial deaths are a major concern, with statistics revealed in Parliament last year showing that there were 1,535 custodial deaths in the country between 2003 and 2007, including deaths caused by diseases such as HIV/AIDS.

AS if it wasn't enough that his taxi had a false registration number plate, the taxi driver assaulted police officers
as well.

The man in his 30s was flagged down at a roadblock in Setapak Jaya, Setapak at 1am, on Wednesday. He had an Indonesian couple as passengers when his taxi was stopped. Strangely, the couple ran away at the roadblock.

The driver ran in the opposite direction.

While the couple managed to escape the police, the driver was caught. But police said: "He retaliated and threw punches at policemen when he was nabbed."
