THE move by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to meet the warring factions in efforts to resolve the worsening MCA crisis was lauded by other component parties of Barisan Nasional (BN).

Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon was confident that with Najib, who is also BN chairman, the MCA crisis will be over soon.

BARISAN Nasional leaders reacted with outrage over the comments by an MIC delegate during the party’s recent general assembly that former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s portrait at the PWTC be adorned with a “garland of slippers”.

Datuk Seri Sharizat Abdul Jalil pulled no punches over the MIC member’s conduct and immediately
demanded an apology for what she described as “unbecoming” and “unacceptable”.
