KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Antarabangsa residents will take two weeks to decide whether to proceed with legal action against the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council.

Bukit Antarabangsa Action Committee secretary-general Raymond Jagathesan told The Malay Mail yesterday the residents would come to a decision after going through the report.

However, he said a lawsuit would be the final option after all other avenues had been exhausted.

KUALA LUMPUR: Why the need for secrecy? That is the question residents of Bukit Antarabangsa are asking Works Minister Datuk Shaziman Mansor, who said his ministry never intended to declassify the controversial landslide report.

Bukit Antarabangsa Action Committee secretary-general Raymond Jagathesan said the declassification of the Official Secrets Act report was crucial to residents, especially those affected by the loss of loved ones and property, to know what actually happened.

SHAH ALAM: “I have no regrets,” says Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim over the alleged ‘declassifying’ of the Bukit Antarabangsa report.

He told The Malay Mail after the weekly exco meeting yesterday that what he had done was for public interest and he had nothing to regret.

Bukit Antarabangsa residents are considering suing MPAJ for negligence, after it was revealed that poor maintenance of the drainage system were among the factors which could have led to the deadly landslide on Dec 6, which claimed five lives and destroyed 14 houses.

THE Selangor government is taking steps to declassify confidential reports on hillslopes in Bukit Antarabangsa and the surrounding areas, including high risk landslide spots.

The declassification move, if successful, would be a first that the public (especially those potentially affected) is given access to information that had until now been classified as confidential.
