ONCE again, Cheras folk have been left out in the proposed public transportation system upgrade. The traffic planners should be along Jalan Cheras from 5am to see the congestion which not only builds up on the main Jalan Cheras but also the feeder roads from the numerous residential estates along Jalan Cheras.

My suggestion is for more LRT stations to be built within a cluster of housing estates so that the people
can have ready access to that service. What is needed then are multi-storey carparks for the use of commuters.

SQUATTERS at 2 1/2 mile and 3rd mile in Cheras are upset. One of the public housing projects that is
allocated for them is in Puchong!

"We will not move to Puchong," said the residents at a meeting with Member of Parliament for Cheras Tan Kok Wai yesterday.

The main reason for their objection is that many of them are hawkers in the Cheras area and moving to Puchong would be an inconvenience.

Also, most of their children are in Chinese schools and the move will only uproot  them. There are also no Chinese schools in the area they are moving to.
