KUALA LUMPUR: Former opposition chief and DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang said today Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim can remain as the opposition leader even if the number of Members of Parliament (MP) from his Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is less than that of the DAP.

"As far as the DAP is concerned, Anwar continues as parliamentary opposition leader even if PKR MPs number less than the DAP’s 28 MPs," he said in his blog and Twitter.

PETALING JAYA: DAP leaders have condemned Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng, calling him a "coward" and "spoilt child" for refusing to apologise to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng after his 3pm session with the Parti Keadilan Rakyat disciplinary board at PKR's headquarters in Tropicana yesterday.

PENANG: The youth wings of the opposition alliance in Penang have invited Umno Youth and the Malay non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to participate in a debate on March 7.

State DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) head Yeoh Soon Hin said today the debate, themed "The Penang Malay Issue: Between Provocation and Truth", would be held at the Seberang Jaya Expo site.

The opposition alliance would be represented by the Keadilan, DAP and PAS Youth at the debate to be chaired by an independent moderator.

SIK: Penang Umno yesterday suggested the setting up of a commission to study the feasibility of a Penang state Pakatan Rakyat (PR) government helmed by the DAP.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said the commission was suitable as the opposition coalition was always calling for a commission to investigate the Barisan Nasional (BN) government's weaknesses.

"The opposition DAP very easily hurls accusations on the (federal) government, calling for a commission, and to produce a white paper.

SIBU: It was a rude shock for the wife of state DAP chairman when a motorcyclist splashed her with an unknown liquid after sending her children to school at about 6.30am today.

Irene Chang, a lawyer, was about to open the door of her car, which was parked at Sanyan Road near the Sanyan building, when two men on a motorcycle passed by.

One of them suddenly splashed the liquid on her and sped away.

Chang's husband Wong Ho Leng, who is the Bukit Assek assemblyman, said his wife was alright but shaken.

BUTTERWORTH: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Penang Elections (Management) Deputy Director Johari Kassim took a swipe at DAP Jelutong Member of Parliament Jeff Ooi today as the verbal battle between the state DAP and PKR leaders continues unabated.

Johari said Ooi was being discourteous by showing disrespect for his colleagues in the Pakatan Rakyat opposition pact and for often criticising PKR leaders.

"Jeff's labelling of PKR as a party of riff-raff is too extreme and shows disrespect for PKR as a component of the opposition pact.

PENANG: The DAP took to task the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for lodging a police report against Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand.

Its secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said this was the first time in Malaysian history that accusations had been made against a pathologist for carrying out his or her duties.

PETALING JAYA: Questions are being asked about whether the use of the DAP party logo on the signboard of Rocket United Cafe in SS2, Petaling Jaya, is against the law.

With different authorities giving conflicting views, the guidelines and approval requirements set by them are being questioned.

On Dec 24, The Malay Mail reported the use of the party symbol was against Registrar of Societies (ROS) regulations, with the ROS saying that political party logos were strictly for party purposes and not for commercial use.

PETALING JAYA: Political party logos must only be used for party purposes.

So says the Registrar of  Societies (RoS) Datuk Md Alias Kalil. He said this in reference to a restaurant in SS2 here that had incorporated the logo of a political party in its signage.
