KLANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak graced wedding of four couples at a joint reception, themed 1Malaysia, at Batu 4 Jalan Kapar last night.

The reception, held in the compound of a house belonging to Kapar Umno vice-chief Md Ghazali Md Amin, was for newlyweds Adlee Md Ghazali, 30, and his bride Nursalina Mohd Isa, 31; Norazrina Md Ghazali, 2, and Mohd Ezad Ezwan Mohd Taib, 27; Khoo Choon Wai, 26, and Yap Siew Yoke, 22, and M. Kejenthiran, 25, and N. Subashini, 23.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today urged business leaders to give back to society by helping the needy through corporate social responsibility (CSR).

He said businesses and corporations did not operate in a vacuum as they were part of society and depended not only on their stakeholders but society at large for their existence and operations.

"It is important for business to give back to society. Helping society and extending a helping hand to those around you can be mutually beneficial and profitable.

He also encouraged the public to submit their comments through his blog at www.1malaysia.com on how the government could improve the concept further.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will begin a two-day visit to Sarawak tomorrow, yet another of his frequent trips to the East Malaysian state which, along with Sabah, he has pledged to develop to be on par with the states in the peninsula.

This time, he will be travelling again to the Sarawak interior, calling at several remote longhouses.

He has kept to his pledge, made when he took over as the prime minister in April last year. He has followed up with his frequent visits to the two states.

KUALA LUMPUR: The meeting of the Barisan Nasional (BN) Supreme Council decided to hold a convention to discuss amendments to the party constitution at the end of the year.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said that the amendments to the party constitution were among efforts aimed at strengthening the party besides making the party more open and inclusive.

He also said, a special committee to be chaired by Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, had been formed to study the proposed amendments to the party constitution.

ROMPIN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will attend the World Nuclear Conference in Washington on April 12-13, Malaysian Ambassador to the United States Datuk Seri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis said.

US President Barack Obama had invited the prime minister in a letter sent through the embassy in Washington, he told reporters after opening the Rompin Umno convention at Universiti Tenaga Nasional in Muadzam Shah near here on Saturday.

KUALA LUMPUR: The 1Malaysia Clinic has received tremendous response from the community, with 103,072 people benefiting from its services since the opening of the first clinic on Dec 28 last year.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said this figure was recorded from then until the first week of February, showing an average of between 80 to 200 patients daily at each clinic.

The 1Malaysia Clinic, officially launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on Jan 7, now had 50 branches operating nationwide, he said.

KUALA LUMPUR: Although the two stolen Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) fighter jet F-5E engines traced to Uruguay were not strategic assets to the nation, no effort would be spared to recover them, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said on Saturday.

He said the engines were more than 35 years old as they were purchased, way back in 1972.

PEKAN: The Prime Minister said the move by the government to offer several subsidiaries of the Ministry of Finance Inc to private companies is in line with its role as a business facilitator and not as
a business entity.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is the Finance Minister, said the government was now identifying the subsidiaries involved which would be offered through open bidding.

He was speaking to reporters after opening the "Digital Pekan 1Malaysia" here today.

NEW DELHI: India-Malaysia relations can be better and warmer if time-tested recipes are slightly altered and whipped up to suit current tastes, say many a keen observer of relations between the two countries.

So, when Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak visits India beginning Tuesday, he might need to use a fresh concoction to spice up relations between "two old friends" before diplomatic fatigue sets in, they say.
