KUALA LUMPUR: Police on Friday obtained a seven-day remand order to hold an actor suspected of dealing in syabu and cocaine.

City CID chief ACP Kang Chez Chiang said the actor, who is the son of a veteran actress, was nabbed together with his girlfriend at the parking lot of a condominium in Segambut here at 2.30pm yesterday.

"Following the arrest, police raided his house in Kepong and found 800 grammes of cocaine and 1.4 grammes of syabu which have a street value of almost RM650,000," he said when contacted by Bernama here.

SEPANG: An actor was among those arrested in Chinese New Year operation near the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) here tonight.

The actor who had featured in the spook drama 'Anak Pontianak' was detained after allegedly admitting to consuming the drug ketamine when directed to undergo a urine test.

The person was detained along with his friend following a raid by by the Selangor National Anti-Durgs Agency (AADK) and Negri Sembilan Road Transport Department.

PENANG: The police have uncovered a mobile drug-processing laboratory in Jalan Ayer Itam, with the arrest of a female Chinese national hired as a 'chemist' to process syabu for local distribution.

Initial police investigations revealed that the woman, in her 20s, worked for a drug trafficking syndicate for six months to process the drug.

Her activities had gone undetected as she had been moving from one place to another to operate the drug 'laboratory' to avoid police detection.

KUALA LUMPUR: International drugs smuggling syndicates are now targeting mental patients as distributing agents.

The latest case involved a chronic schizophrenia patient, P. Jeyakumar, 38, who was lured by an international smuggling syndicate to do their bidding until he was arrested by Argentinian police in Buenos Aires on June 20.

Jeyakumar was lured by the syndicate helmed by a local man called Haris and a woman, Wani, and an African person called Philip who promised work in that country.

ONE of the two burglary suspects arrested after a high-speed chase by police on Tuesday was also wanted by the Petaling Jaya police for drug possession.

The man, in his early 20s, was held at the Petaling Jaya police district headquarters for questioning before being taken back to the Sentul district police headquarters yesterday.

Sentul district deputy police chief Supt Zainuddin Ahmad said the suspects are under remand until tomorrow to facilitate investigations.

Among their concerns were the suspicious behaviour of an Iranian youth living in an apartment, who they believed was a drug addict and a drug pusher.

IT was a "family business" of distributing drugs in the Cheras area for an 18-year-old and her two uncles, a 30-year-old close relative and a 28-year-old (believed distantly related by marriage). The latter was found to have a 'long-time record in criminal acitivities.
