TODAY, Muslims all around the world celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha to comemmorate the spirit of sacrificing one's worldly possessions for God and fellow mankind.

As the pilgrims perform their rites in Mecca, Muslims in Malaysia pay homage to the Haj, one of the five pillars of Islam, by donating meat and money to the poor, in addition to visiting relatives and spending time with their families.

THE date for the sighting of the new moon for the Muslim month of Zulhijjah has been fixed for Tuesday, Nov 17, which is the 29th day of the Muslim month of Zulkaedah, 1430 Hijrah.

The Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal announced in Kuala Lumpur yesterday that the date was released by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, following the consent of the Rulers.

The Keeper of the Rulers’ seal will announce the date for Hari Raya Aidiladha over radio and television on the same evening.
