KUALA LUMPUR: A police investigating officer told the High Court here today that the transcript of the tape recordings on a news conference by Karpal Singh pertaining to his statement to sue the Perak Sultan was not perfect.

ASP Suhaimi Mohamad, 36, said the transcript, done by two news officers from Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), contained spelling errors and did not include in full the questions raised by journalists at the news conference.

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's lead counsel, Karpal Singh, was today chided for using strong words against High Court judge Datuk Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah in the opposition leader's sodomy trial.

Solicitor-General II Datuk Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden, who led the prosecution team, said Karpal Singh could make his point without insulting the judge.

"To say that Your Lordship lied is a very strong word. Although we have to argue to the best of our ability for our clients, using strong language against the judge is not desirable.

PUTRAJAYA: An application has been filed to stay the Court of Appeal’s ruling allowing the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to question witnesses after working hours.

Lawyer Karpal Singh, who filed the application at the Federal Court registry at Palace of Justice here this morning, hopes the case will be heard as soon as possible. He expects hearing in the first week of January.

He said it was illogical to accept "day-to-day" right to question witnesses to be referred to as questioning from “day to night”.

I REFER to the primetime news on Friday where MP Karpal Singh was shown falling off his wheelchair when a group of people carried him up the staircase at the Pahang High Court.

I was not shocked to see such images on the national television. Damai and many other associations for the disabled have been actively advocating the need to have accessible buildings for the past 10 years.

Unfortunately, we are yet to see changes taking place.
