KUALA LUMPUR: Gombak Timur Syariah Lower Court judge Sallehan Yatim on Friday made a visit to Norman Hakim's office in Taman Ukay Perdana in Hulu Klang here, where it is alleged the actor committed "khalwat" (being in close proximity) with starlet Memey in October 2008.

THE authorities have verified that the recent khalwat raid conducted by some residents’ association members was not authorised and we now know how to tell whether someone is authorised or not.

Presumably, anyone assaulted during this event should lodge a police report for the assault.

Yet the hullaballoo is just amazing.

Yes, this was a bad thing. But, it hardly is anywhere near the end of the world.

THE Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) has warned resident’s associations not to take the law into their own hands on religious matters.

Jais president, Datuk Mohamed Khusrin Munawi told Malay Mail that Lestari Apartment Residents’ Association was wrong to have done so as it had not been authorised to carry out a khalwat raid on Oct 19 as claimed by its president, Mohd Yusuf Abdullah.

LESTARI Apartment Residents’ Association chairman Mohd Yusuf Abdullah insists he did nothing wrong in carrying out an “investigation” into khalwat (close proximity) activities.

He said as a community leader, he felt it was his duty to ensure such activities did not occur in Prima Damansara.

ONLY the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) or mosque officials are allowed to conduct raids on private property for khalwat (close proximity).

Residents’ associations are not allowed to conduct raids for vice or anything else, said Jais director Datuk Mohamed Khusrin Munawi.
