PETALING JAYA: The number of public buses will be more than doubled by 2012, while passenger capacity on the KTM Komuter, the light rail transit (LRT) and KL Monorail will also be increased.

Through this, the government aims to have at least a quarter of the Klang Valley commuters using public transport.

KUALA LUMPUR: KL StarRail Sdn Bhd, the operator of KL Monorail, conducted a crisis and disaster management exercise at the KL Monorail Medan Tuanku station early this morning.

The exercise, which started at 12.45am and ended two hours later, involved a three-in-one scenario of train-hijacking, hostage-taking, rescue and evacuation that was carried together with external safety and rescue agencies.

IN referrence to the letter ‘Use yellow at monorail station’ published in the Malay Mail on Aug 27, the KL Monorail management has taken note of the comments and concerns on the tactiles that were originally installed at all KL Monorail stations for the visually challenged people.

For your information, since the takeover from the previous company, we are in the midst of upgrading
our stations and at the same time replacing the existing stainless steel tactiles.

The new tactiles are made from ceramic and are yellow in colour, conforming to the standard guidelines.
