Drivers don’t fear fines, says councillor

IT was like listening to a broken record until councillor Tan Heng Kim spoke up at the Klang Municipal Council’s full board meeting yesterday.

LIM finds it very irritating that tents put up for weekend functions are left behind for months at Lorong
Batu Nilam 1A in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang, where he lives.

On many an occasion, he said, the people who put up the temporary tents never come back to dismantle
them.

“The tents block the view of oncoming traffic to road users and because of this, accidents occur. The last
accident was on Sept 25 and luckily, the motorcyclist was not seriously hurt,” he said.

SELANGOR recently saw a new set of councillors take office for a year. However, some parties have called for younger councillors to be represented in local government.

The idea was not totally rebuffed by members of the Klang Municipal Council when met recently, but they felt it should not be taken at face value.

THE new list of councillors in the Klang Municipal Council has caused some stir in the municipality after the number of Indian councillors were reduced from six to five. Klang MIC deputy president M. Karunanidhi was shocked after the new list was released last week and was clearly unhappy with the State government's move.

"The Pakatan government  always claimed that it will never sideline the Indian community but I believe the new set of Klang councillors says it all. It has only been just over a year and the Indian community is being overlooked.

EYEBROWS were raised at the name Ivan Ho Fook Keong when Klang Municipal Council (MPK) announced the new list of councillors for the 2008/2009 sessions.

LIKE most other local councils, the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has this vexing problem of illegal posters all over town.
