IN line with the aspirations of the country to increase the wild tiger population, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will be conducting an internal audit aimed at strengthening its enforcement sector.

IT is high time the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment takes a real hard look at the more than 30 animal establishments – zoos, mini zoos, aviaries, bird parks and crocodile farms – existing in almost every State in Malaysia.

The Housing and Local Government Minister, too, should adopt a similar approach as some State zoos fall under its management.
