THE Discovery Channel will produce a 30-minute programme on the Balinese pendet dance to alleviate tension between Malaysia and Indonesia.

The pendet dance was featured in a 30-second promotional piece produced for Discovery Channel recently to promote the series Enigmatic Malaysia.

It led to an uproar from Indonesians, who claimed that it was an attempt by Malaysia to steal the country’s cultural heritage.

KRU Studios has nothing to do with the controversial promotional clip Enigmatic Malaysia — even though the series of documentaries was produced by them to showcase Malaysia’s cultural heritage on the Discovery Channel, KRU Group of Companies’ chief executive officer Norman Abdul Halim said.
