KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin lauded the step taken by the Transport Ministry to have bidders of  projects of over RM1 million offered by the Port Klang Authority (PKA) sign
integrity pacts.

He said the step was appropriate to repair PKA's image and regain the trust of investors following the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal which surfaced last year.

"The government has no objections (to the move). It could be they see the need for this (integrity pact) as a result of the scandal which put PKA in a negative light.

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong's inter parte injunction application hearing regarding his defamation case against Social Care Foundation chairman Tan Sri Robert Phang and Star Publications (M) Berhad at the High Court was postponed to next month.

Today's hearing, before judge Dr Prasad Sandhosham Abraham, was postponed to April 5 after Wee's counsel, Ben Chan, told the court that they require more time to study affidavits in reply handed over by Phang's counsel.

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA Youth chief Datuk Wee Ka Siong’s nightmare is back to haunt him.

The High Court here dismissed his application for an interim injunction to gag Tan Sri Robert Phang from making statements tying Wee to the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal.

Phang, a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) panel adviser, was given a reprieve today after lawyers for Wee failed to obtain an interim gag order after an injunction they obtained on Jan 22 expired today.

KLANG: The Sessions Court here has set March 26 as the mention date for the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) case.

Judge Yong Zarida Sazali set the date after deputy public prosecutor Dzulkifli Ahmad requested the court to set an early date.

Present in court this morning was the first accused, former PKA general manager Datin Paduka Phang Oi Choo @ Phang Ai Tu, 63, or better known as O.C. Phang.

She attended court to surrender her passport. Dressed in a green blouse and black pants, Phang was accompanied by her lawyer Ng Aik Guan.

PETALING JAYA: A former Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd (KDSB) engineer is expected to be charged on Monday in connection with the Port Klang Free Zone scandal. Sources told The Malay Mail that the man, Law Jenn Dong, had left the company in September last year.

KDSB deputy executive chairman Datuk Faizal Abdullah said the company respected the process of law and would continue to co-operate with the Attorney-General's Chambers, the police and the MACC on the PKFZ issue.
