MYVI owners beware! The most popular car in Malaysia is now being targeted by thieves.

Malay Mail learnt recently that syndicates have been stealing airbags, the single most expensive part in the car’s cabin — to resell them in the black market to unscrupulous parts dealers.

THE family of six arrested on suspicion of theft on Sunday are believed to be homeless. Initial investigation
revealed that they have been living in a blue Proton Wira based on the number of items found in the boot
of the car.

It was filled with clothes, diapers and other items believed to be stolen goods. Among other items seized were handbags, jeans, shoes, i-pods and laptops.

Kuala Lumpur police deputy CID chief ACP Khairi Ahrasa did not deny the possibility that the family could have been living in their car when they arrived here from Johor.

LAST Sunday, an entire family was arrested on suspicion of theft in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

From CCTV footage, we can see a little boy pointing to the camera, looking worriedly at his father. But the man, carrying his one-year-old daughter, gestures to the 10-year-old that he should go for his target, a laptop at the cashier's counter.

All the while, his two other siblings play in the shop as a distraction.

YOU would have thought that with all that heat and attention, the police would have learnt something.

 

Custodial deaths are a major concern, with statistics revealed in Parliament last year showing that there were 1,535 custodial deaths in the country between 2003 and 2007, including deaths caused by diseases such as HIV/AIDS.

On May 1, a suspect in police custody was beaten up by angry members of the public in Klang.
