GENEVA: The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), an international non-government environment conservation organisation, warned on Sunday that there are only five years left to mitigate the effects of fossil fuels and called for prompt action to deal with climate change.

Quoting Kim Carstensen, leader of the WWF's Global Climate Initiative, China's Xinhua news agency said the findings show that "the window of opportunity to act on climate change is rapidly closing."

ORANGUTANS are amazing creatures but things are not so rosy in their world - deforestation, poaching and other irresponsible human activities are pushing them to the brink of extinction.

We have to do something NOW to save their fast-dwindling numbers. Otherwise, by the time our grandchildren are born, there will no longer be any orangutans left in the wild.

TEMPERATURES really shot up at Saigon Bar in One Bangsar last Saturday as tantalising pole-dancing moves were the order of the night - all with a view of raising funds for the Women's Aid Organisation (WAO) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Over 150 guests were drawn to the Exotic Pole and Fit Pole Dancing finals, that kept everyone entertained
for about four hours.

THE World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Malaysia) has embarked on an “eggstraordinary” campaign to bag 40,000 signatures in support of preserving the beleaguered turtle eggs.

Its executive director, Datuk Dr Dionysius S. K. Sharma, said the campaign seeks support to regulate laws to ban the sale and consumption of turtle eggs nationwide and establish comprehensive and holistic federal legislations to conserve marine turtles.

“When they sign on to the campaign, they pledge to themselves that they would not eat turtle eggs anymore.
