Therefore, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's advice to Malaysians to reduce sugar consumption

PETALING JAYA: Questions are being asked about whether the use of the DAP party logo on the signboard of Rocket United Cafe in SS2, Petaling Jaya, is against the law.

With different authorities giving conflicting views, the guidelines and approval requirements set by them are being questioned.

On Dec 24, The Malay Mail reported the use of the party symbol was against Registrar of Societies (ROS) regulations, with the ROS saying that political party logos were strictly for party purposes and not for commercial use.

PETALING JAYA: While police have not ruled out inside job in the 'baby for sale' racket, the National Registration Department says it is unlikely that its staff are involved.

The birth registration system practised by NRD uses a multi-tier approval method, making it difficult for any single party to manipulate, its public relations officer Jainisah Mohd Noor said.

The police became suspicious of an inside job after investigations revealed that the rescued children had birth certificates naming couples who had "purchased" them as their biological parents.

KUALA LUMPUR: Developers in Selangor have nothing against the State government's proposal to implement a "hill development charge fund" as long as the charges are reasonable.

Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association Malaysia (Rehda) president Datuk Ng Seing Liong views the proposal favourably, saying that developers are willing to fork out the amount in exchange for expertise in slope maintenance and stabilisation.

MALA of Kajang is disappointed by the irregular RapidKL U40 bus service. "I  live in Kajang and travel daily
on this service , which is now the only one shuttling commuters between Kajang and Kuala Lumpur. We used to also have the E2 express bus service for the route but it was terminated on Nov 16."

MALA claims that she has to wait for almost an hour or even longer for the U40 buses since. She also complains of buses not stopping to pick up passengers because they were already full.

She says complaints to the RapidKL helpline have been fruitless.

"Whenever I call the Streamyx customer care service at 100, the technical support personnel will always tell me to reset the modem and the port, check the dial tone and the speedometer. But, nothing seems to work at all."

JUDY from Petaling Jaya is annoyed with the hacking and drilling noise at her neighbour's house, which is undergoing some renovation, as it has been going on for almost six weeks!

"My elderly parents aged 70 and 63, together with my uncle aged 60, have had to put up with hacking and drilling at the double-storey corner-lot house.

"It has been more than six weeks since the renovation work started and, surprisingly, the hacking and drilling work is still going on from 8am till 5pm. The drilling occurs three to four days in a week and even on Saturdays.

ZAHARANI from Kepong is puzzled why she is still receiving payment reminders despite having duly paid monthly premiums for her insurance policy.

She bought an insurance policy with American International Assurance Bhd (AIA) and confirms that she has arranged for monthly payments to be made via automatic deductions on her credit card.

However, ZAHARANI still keeps getting reminder notices from AIA to settle her payments."When I contacted the bank, I was informed that no transactions were made between AIA and the bank since July until now."

WILSON from Segambut is worried about the condition of the children's playground at Jalan Udang Gantung 1, Taman Cuepacs, Segambut.

Apparently, the playground is poorly-maintained — being unkempt and overgrown with grass and weeds.

"I'm worried about the safety of the children who use the playground.  The condition of the place is a potential hazard to them."

WILSON hopes prompt action will be taken to fix the problem, in order to prevent unwanted incidents from

LEE from Petaling Jaya is disappointed with Ambank for what he claims as a misleading leaflet advertisement.
The leaflet, he adds, shows different types of promotions on interest rates  for fixed deposits.

Interested to learn more about it, Lee went to the branch with a plan to take up the offer.

"When I went there, the staff told me that the promotion has ended despite it being clearly stated on the leaflet that the promotion is valid from Nov 16 to Jan 15."

The staff was also unable to give LEE a proper explanation on the matter.

KANA from Bangsar is concerned about the health and safety hazards posed by an abandoned house in his
neighbourhood.

A two-storey linked house at No 1, Jalan Pudina, Bangsar (pic) has been left abandoned for about five to six months. As there is no  one maintaining this particular house, its compound has become overgrown with grass — making it a breeding ground for mosquitoes and even snakes.

ANISHA Mohamed Husain of Port Dickson is unhappy over her experience at Golden Screen Cinema (GSC) at the MId Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 25, when she and her friends went to watch the movie Twilight.

They were there for the 7pm show at Hall 5.

THE Selayang Municipal Council says there will be no repeat of last Saturday’s landslip on Jalan JU 5/5, Taman Jasa Utama.

“There is no need for fear or worry,” its public relations and corporate planning director Mohd Zin Masoad said, adding that follow- up measures were being taken to ensure the safety of residents.

The cause of the landslip is still under investigation and initial on-site checks point to an overflowing septic tank as a possible trigger for the incident.

Back in July, thousands of Akon fans in Malaysia were faced with disappointment as event organisers announced the postponement of his ‘Freedom Beach Concert’ due to personal reasons on Akon’s part. Hopes were high for a return visit, and it eventually turned into reality when Mr Aliaune “Akon” Thiam arrived on Oct 24, and he wowed crowds with his awesome performance on that very day.
