PARAMOUNT VIEW CONDO: Access route to the condominium has been shot down by nearby residents

THERE have been a number of media reports regarding the access road to the Paramount View condominium
in Petaling Jaya.

The residents near the condominium site have protested; the relevant assemblyman and MP have commented on the issue, Petaling Jaya City Council has issued a stop-work order on the project and the developers have also come out to defend themselves.

But, what about the purchasers of the condominium units? We have been suffering silently, hoping that the authorities and the developers will arrive at a solution quickly.

However, we cannot keep quiet any longer as we realise that nobody is considering us. We are the innocent victims here.

We signed the sale and purchase agreement with the developer over three years ago. We thought we could sleep soundly every night since this project has the council’s approval.

Perhaps we were too naïve to think that the PJ council would have studied all aspects of the project, including
access points and its close proximity to high tension cables, before granting approval.

Who would imagine that three years down the road, we would own a parcel in the air, with no way in or out! The purchasers had made an appointment to meet with the mayor of Petaling Jaya on July 24 to get first hand information on what the council is doing about this problem.

Frankly, we only received news either from the developers or the media. The impression we get is that the council is going back on its earlier access road approval and has not come up with an alternative.

We wanted to hear the council’s side of the story, but alas, the mayor is not interested to meet us, the purchasers – the rightful stakeholders in this unfortunate saga.

We have a right to an explanation on why the access road is denied, and why at this stage when the project is already 75 per cent completed.

Of all the stakeholders involved, we – the purchasers – are the ones with the biggest losses if the project is delayed or abandoned.

We have invested our hard-earned money into this purchase. We are burdened by heavy financial commitments because of this condominium. We want to move in fast.

That is why we appeal to the PJ council to honour its approval and let the developer fulfill its obligations to the purchasers.

We also call on Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to consider the plight of the purchasers in the deliberations on this matter.

I understand that in a govt meeting, MBPJ is not giving approval for the access road. They have admitted this and have decided to let the Courts decide. Is this an excuse for MBPJ from making an unpopular decision to allow the access road since surrounding residents are protesting it? Where is the MP and ADUN is all this? Why the deafening silence? Don't blame your predecessors; facilitate a resolution instead of taking sides with the protestors. I am losing confidence in the new Selangor govt.

If we want to invest in a piece of paper, so be it, its our hard earned money. Bottom line, we just want our investment!

The point is the condo has been built and there is no way it can be brought down to serve exsisting residents interest only. The project should not have been approved in the first place but the residents there should have protested earlier by submitting their objections. The way i see it everything has been done according to law and it's absurd and futile to debate over it. The residents must learn to accomodate their new neigbours instead of punnishing the buyers. I am sure all the condo buyers are well aware of the fact that the high tension cable is near their building and don't seem to mind. The local authority should stop delaying buyers from moving in, many of whom have taken huge loans to own a piece of property. The local authority should stop bowing down to pressure from a few residents who have only their self interest at heart.
