It's nationalism, says Hate Malaysia Facebook site
“DON’T share authentic Indonesian recipes with Malaysians.”
This is but just one of the few inane principles endorsed by a group of Indonesians on Facebook titled “We Hate Malaysia”.
The group also calls for Indonesians working in Malaysia to not share Indonesian dances or any of its culture
with Malaysians, following the controversy surrounding Indonesia’s accusation that we had “stolen” its Balinese pendet dance.
The dance was featured in a promotional advertisement for the documentary Enigmatic Malaysia on the Discovery Channel and has become a sore point with people from our neighbouring country.
On its Facebook site, the group’s logo features a stick man holding the Indonesian flag with a foot on the Jalur Gemilang.
Aside from the name of the group, it also features the slogan: Bukan rasisme, ini nasionalisme! (This isn’t racism, it's nationalism!) Its description even includes a warning line: Berhati-hatilah dengan kata-kata serumpun mereka, karena mereka akan menikam dari belakang, which means “Be careful with their words, for they may stab you from the back!”
The administrators of the group have also taken advantage of the space in the group’s description section to accuse Malaysia (which they refer to as Malingsia) as being a country without ethics, a plagiariser, lacking creativity and not wanting to and not capable of creating works of art.
They also called for Indonesians to — from now onwards — refer to Malaysia as Malingsia, ending the description with questions of how much Indonesian culture has been robbed of by Malaysia.
The group has 401,217 members to date.
