Improve Cheras transport system
ONCE again, Cheras folk have been left out in the proposed public transportation system upgrade. The traffic planners should be along Jalan Cheras from 5am to see the congestion which not only builds up on the main Jalan Cheras but also the feeder roads from the numerous residential estates along Jalan Cheras.
My suggestion is for more LRT stations to be built within a cluster of housing estates so that the people
can have ready access to that service. What is needed then are multi-storey carparks for the use of commuters.
Also, having the LRT station in a central housing estate such as Alam Damai would cater to the other linked housing estates as well.
This area has about 250,000 people and an LRT station here would definitely reduce the congestion on the roads, reduce carbon emission and reduce stress for those who would opt to use the LRT.
Even the KTM Komuter should explore extending its network to this area. The authorities should think and plan for the traffic flow for next 20 years at least.
