The fabulous journey for 10 finalists of Maybelline New York Simply Fabulous culminated with a stunning bash at Euphoria, Sunway Lagoon Resort on Monday where the winner was announced by hosts Sarah Lian and Henry Golding.

 

 

Nalinder Manoharan was unanimously chosen as the winner of Maybelline New York Simply Fabulous as she edged out the rest of the finalists with her youthful aura, intelligence and confident persona.

She charmed a stellar panel of judges such as Maybelline New York trainer and makeup artist, Kimberley Foo, actress and TV host Sazzy Falak, celebrity stylist Stevensunny and McCann Worldgroup strategic planning director Abhinav Sharma, to win the competition.

“This has been an amazing journey for both Maybelline New York and the 10 finalists. The Maybelline New York Simply Fabulous programme has provided a platform for these girls to explore their potential and achieve greater heights.

“Through this show, Maybelline hopes that the viewers will be inspired to take charge of their own life and turn it into something great,” said Kua Theng Hong, general manager, Maybelline New York in Malaysia.

“This is 8TV’s very first online reality show and we are extremely excited about it. Maybelline New York Simply Fabulous incorporates traits like confidence, creativity, teamwork and so much more.

“We hope that this will motivate Malaysian girls to work towards achieving their dreams,” commented 8TV’s general manager, Lam Swee Kim.

The Maybelline New York Simply Fabulous programme started in July 2009 with a nationwide search for aspiring girls between 18 to 30 years of age, to live their dreams be it furthering their studies, starting a business or doing something spectacular.

From over 1,200 entries, the applications were shortlisted to a promising 100 who were called back for auditions and interviews before 10 girls with the most potential were finalised.

Maybelline New York Simply Fabulous featured 10 female contestants from various backgrounds who had eagerly made their way to the Maybelline New York Simply Fabulous road shows as well as registered online for a chance to be part of this reality show.

After a series of tough auditions, the 10 lucky contestants shortlisted were Calista Wei Fen Leah Liew (22), Kimberley Cham Siang Fen (24), Susilawati Mohd Ariff (23), Steffanie Vanessa Schubert (19), Nalinder Manoharan (27), Preeta Sharenia Nithianantham (21), Zhareen Anshary (18), Ng Bei Shan (22), Nik Syifa Unnur Nik Aziz (22) and Nurdiana Ashraf Abu Bakar (25).

As part of the show, the girls took on challenges which tested their grooming skills, fashion sense, social skills, and the ability to communicate and sell their dreams. True to the online nature of the show, the girls had to work at creating their own fan base through online networks such as Facebook, Youtube and their personal blogs to encourage fans to vote for them.

Online votes contributed 30 per cent while the judges’ decision contributed 70 per cent to the winning outcome.
The Maybelline New York Simply Fabulous Grand Prize winner will be living a Simply Fabulous life as the grand prize includes RM10,000 in cash sponsorship and RM50,000 worth of sponsored products to realise her dreams.

In addition, she will fly to New York for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join in the glitz and glam of the famed New York Fashion Week and meet renowned Maybelline New York makeup artists.

Other special awards presented during the event were the ‘Striking Confidence’ award given to Calista Liew by a group of bloggers who had followed the online show closely and the ‘So Gorgeous’ award, a retailer’s choice award presented to Nurdiana Ashraf by Watsons.
