Next Bike Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Naza group of companies, held a party last Friday to launch the Ducati Streetfighter.

The glittering party was held at Asian Heritage Row. A huge Ducati arch welcomed all and sundry and by 10pm, over 100 superbikes and choppers were parked throughout the whole street.

Also in the parking lots were some 50-odd sports cars comprising mainly of Porches and Ferraris. People who didn’t get in were seen mingling outside The Loft, admiring the beautiful machines.

Naza Group executive vice president of operations, Datuk SM Zulkifli SM Amin was there to grace the event and launch the sexy beast that is the Ducati Streetfighter.

Traditionally, a streetfighter is a superbike that has no fairings as well as incorporating other changes to make Streetfighterit look meaner and tougher. Basically, a ‘naked sportsbike’ with none of the fancy frills.

Some other features include large headlights, tall, upright ‘motocross’ handlebars and custom-built one-off frames.

The Ducati Streetfighter was designed by Damien Basset from the Ducati design team. It boasts an L-Twin Desmodromic liquid-cooled engine that pumps up 155hp and 115Nm of torque with its 1,099cc engine.

It is also the first bike to feature the Ducati Traction Control (DTC), offering riders a choice of eight sensitivity levels, each one programmed with a wheel-spin tolerance matched to progressive riding skill levels.

The event attracted around 300 people, packing the venue. There were many fun activities, such as trivia quizzes with the Ducati Walkabout Girls.
