Proton chairman Nadzmi warded in Chennai Hospital

CHENNAI: Proton Holdings Bhd chairman Datuk Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh was admitted to the Apollo Hospital here today after complaining of chest pains.

Nadzmi, 55, had complained of the discomfort when checking in at the Taj Coromandel Hotel here, and was rushed to the hospital.

My Events International chief executive officer Shahul Hameed Dawood, who had taken Nadzmi to the hospital, said he was informed by doctors that Nadzmi had suffered a mild stroke.

He said Nadzmi might have to remain at the hospital for two or three days for treatment.

Nadzmi was transferred to a normal ward at about 3pm (5.30pm in Malaysia) and his condition is reported to be stable.

Nadzmi had flown in here from Kuala Lumpur to join the trade and investment delegation led by International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed.

Mustapa visited Nadzmi at about 2.30pm (about 5pm in Malaysia) at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Nadzmi is also executive chairman of Nadicorp Holdings Sdn Bhd and president of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
