Shocked by demand letter from PTPTN

RANI recently had the shock of her life from a letter sent by the National Higher  Education Fund Corporation
(PTPTN) stating she owed it thousands of ringgit. She  says she has been making monthly payments to service her study loan.

“I have been paying on my loan from PTPTN every month for years and it has  suddenly sent me a notice
saying I still owe a lot of money. There was no explanation as to why I owe such a large amount.”

To make matters worse, she says, the letter goes on to say that legal action will be taken and she will be barred from leaving the country if she fails to make the payment within 14 days.

RANI adds that all her attempts to contact the PTPTN, based on the number given in the letter as well as that on the PTPTN website, have been futile  as the calls go unanswered,or the line is busy or out of service.

“I am not saying I do not want to pay. If I truly owe PTPTN the money then it is fine. Not only does it not offer me any explanation as to how I have come to owe so much when I have been making monthly payments,

I am also not able to get in touch with anyone who can clarify this,” she says. “I am travelling overseas at the end of this week and I worry something might be done to stop me. Please do help me get in touch with someone as I have no clue as to what’s going on,” RANI pleads.

She hopes a representative from PTPTN can get in touch with her as soon as possible so that the matter can be settled.

PTPTN public relations officer Noora Md Yusoff says PTPTN has been in touch with RANI. “We have contacted RANI and have explained how she came to owe PTPTN that amount.”
As for RANI’s complaint of not being able to contact PTPTN, Noora says she has given RANI her mobile number for future  inquiries on this matter.
Noora adds all those with similar inquiries on their PTPTN loans can contact her on 019-2759289.

Agree with that pay RM1 to show protest but one person not enough! Never ending, every month paying the "administrative cost", we are paying yet we receive such things. I wonder if RANI could email me, the explanation is the same for all i guess, just wanna know. Hope more ppl will come forward coz i think this is not right, if PTPTN issue the letter to those not paying than is fine, this doesnt seem right to me.

If I'm in your shoes, I would've paid RM1 UNDER PROTEST.
