Hear, Say: Moolah does matter

IN our local film industry, sadly enough, professionals in some disciplines are hardly treated so - at least when it comes to payment. Having an opportunity to chat with some friends in the business, it is amazing how little a supposed professional makes.

And yet, productions don’t bat an eyelid when the media or the fans lash out at such shoddy work. Haven’t they heard that you get what you pay for, or that when you pay peanuts, you get monkeys?

True, passion and love for what you do is important,  But that alone won’t feed you – and neither will fresh air and sunshine. How can you blame the people who don’t fall into the category of the well-paid from being mass-manufacturing drones who constantly churn out work which may not be the best they can offer, as they have another job after that to think about.

Undoubtedly, there are film producers who do take care of their ‘families’. Kudos to those who do. For the rest, people like scriptwriters, make-up artists and wardrobe folk as well as the technical crew are often overlooked when it comes to the budget.

Hopefully, the unscrupulous ones will think about being more generous with their workforce, and get the ball  rolling on everyone who does their bit to make movie magic – and not just third-rate kiddy productions.

Watch what you say

SHE’S known more for her looks and her demeanor that is said to make her one of the more honest ones for her straightforward points of views that she willingly shares with the world.

In reality, she’s nothing but a hypocrite for many who know her.

This actress may have the public fooled, but that seething cess-pool of a mouth she has will indeed one day get her into more trouble than she can handle.

Word is, she was on a photoshoot with two other actresses, one of whom is a former model.

Eyewitnesses said, the mouthy actress started badmouthing the actress-cum-model loudly when the latter took a little more time to get ready.

And she didn’t do it quietly either. She made sure she was loud enough to be overheard by everyone, including the target of her spitefulness.

Dhani keeping it real

AHMAD Dhani
AHMAD Dhani (above) was in town recently to launch his album, Muhammad Dhani & The Swinger, which features a remake of Madu Tiga.

The song, perhaps aptly describing the man who has openly defended polygamy, definitely invites sniggers from listeners, and is a suitable choice for more reasons than Dhani’s ability to deliver it in a refreshing manner.

With his highly-publicised marital affairs, word has it Dhani was cautious about bringing the other half of pop group Ratu, Mulan Jameela in front of the media here while on his trip. Undoubtedly, the tabloids especially would have had a field day, had his current partner Mulan been there as, after all, the latter was a member of Ratu with Dhani’s former other half, Maia Estianty.

Brazil’s finest metal act

Derrick Green

Sepultura lead singer Derrick Green

HEAVY metal legends, Sepultura, are on their way to Kuala Lumpur!

According to sources, the band, who reigned supreme in the 80s and 90s with their brand of heavy metal, will be performing here as part of their tour.

It may not be imaginable for the band, which launched their eleventh studio album earlier this year, to be performing here, but fans can now rejoice that Malaysia has apparently been made one of the few stopovers in this region.

A Diva bullied

SPEAKING of actresses with attitudes, here’s another.

This senior actress apparently is so well-known for being a pain that the production crew she works with apparently often teach her a lesson when they can.

While admittedly she is a fine actress, insiders say that her problematic tantrums on set especially render her a target for the rest of the crew.

One time, she supposedly bought some kuih, and just placed it on some items belonging to the make-up artist, who was furious to see her expensive stuff doused in oil, dripping from the actress’s dish.

The latter then chucked the pieces on the floor.

Another actress who had been walking past, accidentally stepped on it, exclaimed loudly and put it back on the table.

The senior actress, upon her return to that spot, didn’t think twice and took a bite from her delights, oblivious to the fact that it had been soiled, and no one chose to point it out to her.

In another incident, we hear the crew also peed in her drink, while in yet another, when they were shooting an underwater scene, they held her longer than necessary.

The list goes on. And all that can be said is, if she doesn’t get off her high horse soon, she may just continue being the butt of many, many people’s jokes and pranks.

Talk about pathetic

HE struts his stuff, and makes it clear to everyone that he’s supposed to be classier and more well-off than them.

This new actor however, who is more known for gracing el cheapo magazines for publicity than any real acting skill – has been branded nothing but a loser by productions he’s worked with.

According to our insiders, he bums cigarettes on set, and picks off bits of what other people are eating if there is no catered food.

Eew… talk about pathetic.
