ANOTHER blogger has run foul of the country’s Sedition Act.

Yesterday Bernard Khoo, better known through his blog, zorro-unmasked.blogspot.com, gave his statement under Section 4 (1) (C) of the Sedition Act to an investigating officer at the Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department headquarters at the Bukit Perdana government complex in Kuala Lumpur.

Accompanied by three lawyers, Haris Mohamed Ibrahim, Ashok Kandiah and J. Chandra, Khoo spent about 90 minutes at the department.

Haris told reporters that the investigating officer, DSP Mahfuz, told his client that his statement was being recorded due to a posting on the blog on Aug 8, titled Childish Police Bullying Again, that featured a heavily modified logo of the Royal Malaysian Police.

On the modified logo the words Polis Di-Raja Malaysia remained but instead of a tiger there was a dog with an open mouth, and the words C4 and $-sign placed on the crown which had the Star of David on it.

Haris said Khoo gave his full-cooperation to the police during the interview.

He said Khoo did not offer information as to who made the modified logo nor its author. Khoo also did not reveal Zorro’s identity.

Haris said the investigating officer told Khoo that they would contact him if the need arose.

In the last two years, several bloggers have been investigated under the same section of the Sedition Act. However, so far only one, Raja Petra Raja Kamaruddin, has been charged.
