VIGILANTE TOOL: The Myvi driven by the woman that killed the thief on Wednesday

In yet another vigilante car chase after a snatch theft, the female victim caught up with the suspect, lost control of the car she was driving and rammed into the man — killing him on the spot.

In the 10pm incident on Wednesday night, Sentul district police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan said the 24-year-old marketing executive was driving her white Myvi from Wangsa Maju towards Kuala Lumpur when she was confronted by a man on a motorcycle, some 150m from a traffic light at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.

The man had accused the woman of hitting his vehicle and demanded reimbursement. She was asked to stop at a petrol station nearby to settle the case.

“There, the woman gave the man all her money amounting to RM45. But, he was unsatisfied and asked for her cellphone too, which she gave him.”

Still unhappy, the man then grabbed the woman’s handbag and jumped on his motorcycle and rode off in the direction of Titiwangsa.

Zakaria said the woman went back into her car and gave chase for some 800m — and reached a dead end.

“The robber came right up to the fencing of the Titiwangsa Golf Club and stopped abruptly. But the woman could not brake in time. The car slammed the motorcycle into the fence, dragging the man a few metres. The man died on the spot,” Zakaria said.

Initial investigations revealed that the deceased was C. Unni Krishnan Nair, a 29-year-old from Negri Sembilan, with one record for robbery in Seremban.

“We believe the suspect may not have known the road and reached the dead end unintentionally,” said Zakaria, adding that police are now probing whether the woman had any intention of harming the man.

At Press time, a post-mortem on Unni Krishnan was still in progress.

This case is similar to a vigilante car chase a month ago when a woman slammed into two motorcycles on the opposite side of the road at Batu 6, Jalan Klang Lama while chasing a couple of snatch thieves.

In that incident, an innocent motorcyclist, Tang Kim Lai, 39, died on the spot while another man, a 28-year-old machine operator, K. Saravanakumar, was severely injured.

in this day and age, when we are lacking of law enforcers, when society are lacking morality, when any tom dick and harry can just rob kill and destroy as and when they feel like it and most probably will get away with their crime, as much as i am against taking of lives, i still think the perpetrator deserves it. true that another case where two innocent victims are involved and that is utmost heart breaking and sad especially if you are the innocent victims family members, friends or spouse. but i guess in the end of the day those with the responsibility of keeping the civilians safe and sound to begin with should buck up and start doing their job. if the system doesn't work and all these vigilantism keeps popping up, it is very obvious that the system needs to be reprimanded and changed. else cases like this will go on and on and on.

It is sad to see so many supporting vigilantism. What happen if one day you yourself becomes the victim of vigilantism? Justice must be sought with clear reasoning not with rage. I ask you guys out there, how about the two motorcyclists who died as a result of a vigilante chasing a robber? What do you call that? Collateral damage? Act of God or blind rage of a victim... what then... how about those who died was your father or son? Use your brain please.

u should be asking, why u should be a victim of vigilanties first. the robber is already dead but not the driver. it was an accident (i assume), so what do we have to do? condemn her? but u're right too, i think they should stop cursing the robber...just not right. since he got his punishment, just let things go n let the law take its course

Police classify the case under Section 304 of the Penal Code as culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Is this right?

Such incidence happenning in our so called "civilsed" society is most unfortunate. Why should such things happen ? Will anything be resolved by playing the blame game ? Can the Government do something before more lifes are lost ? Any lifes be they of criminals or victims are just as precious and should not be wantonly taken away. No humans should have the right to destroy another life no matter how justified they are in the eyes of the law - nevertheless if it is an accident perhaps it may be the will of the Great One.

While it is her right to chase the robber if truly he was the robber, we can never and should never encourage any form of vigilantism. Who gave us the right to become the judge, jury and executioner? Justice is for all parties. Some one is innocent until proven guilty. I find some of the comments given here rather naive. That was her side of the story. The police should investigate. Justice pursued in haste will eventually result in injustice. Those who encourage vigilantism are idiots. Let the police do their job.

Let's see who would be the judge, jury and executioner when your house is broken into, giving you an upper hand that you are armed with a handgun OR ...... had yourself or your loved ones fall a victim in such circumstances and that you are within the vicinity.

I guess you did not read that the victim chase the the robber and end up knocking him dead. I ask you what happens if during the chase she actually rammed into iinocent people like what had occurred recently? Not all cases are comparable. We are talking vigilantism here not self defence. Do not be confused.

It is better to be an idiot sometime but what choice have we have against scumbags like that. One question have you gone through such an experience. I HAVE and DO YOU KNOW HOW ME AS A VICTIM FELT. It is better to kill in self defence then to be kill and let the police solve it out. To me there are only justice in this world when you have ......... and ............. Figure it out yourself. I am very glad and thankful that the lady have done the public a great justice.

What happens if one day in your haste and rage for justice you actually victimise the innocent? Does one has to be a victim to know right from wrong? Did the victim here knock the robber in self defence?

It appears she has acted correctly with reasonable responsive action on her part.It is unfortunate the alleged thief died, as the shocked victim lost control in her distress and was unable to brake correctly, after being being intimidated and due to the shock given by the thief. The police should accept ...AN ACT OF GOD...took place. That should be the need of the matter. In circumstances like this I hope the Gods are listening...and will act accordingly to get rid of more evil people!

I am happy that one criminal is not around in this world. It is a case of to kill or to be kill. If I happen to be in the same situation as this woman I will do the same thing too and I will encourage the people to do the same then only will the streets be safe again.I take my hat off to this brave woman and I hope she will not be charge by the police as she have done the public a big favour.

I fully agree with all your comments ......... I feel that no one should feel remorseful for his death not even his family should feel sad!! This parasite is one of those criminals intimidating our daily lives, the streets will never be safe if they are not taken off. Glad to haer the police have taken off a number of criminals in the last 48 hours.Get more of them ........ Well done Malaysian Police!!!

i am not condoning with killing but if snatch thieves can't be controlled, then too bad. They have to go. Look at the loan shark eradication action. It started off like HANGAT-HANGAT TAHI AYAM. Now in my housing areas, the loan sharks are back in business where posters are put up everywhere!

hope that the girl could be strong and wont be charged for helping us to 'clean' up the street.
