GOMBAK: Two people were charged at the Sessions Court here this morning by the Malaysian Anti-CorruptionCommission (MACC) for bribery amounting to RM150,000 in connection with a logging deal.

Dealer Solehuddin Mohd Yunus, 43, and civil servant retiree Zarina Mindra Abdullah, 55, pleaded not guilty.

Solehuddin was said to have bribed 61-year-old Mohd Azizi Kong @ Kong Kim Leng, with RM150,000 to get
MACC officers to stop investigations into the logging deal.

GET your train tickets fast if you are returning to your hometowns for the Chinese New Year holidays.

KTM Berhad said tickets for journeys to the north, east and south between Feb 10 and 13 are selling out. Up to Feb 3, only 8,788 out of 37,824 tickets are left.

However, there are still plenty of tickets available for train journeys between Feb 14 and 21.

Altogether, KTM has allocated 91,032 tickets for journeys between Feb 10 and 21.

ARVIN of Petaling Jaya feels Astro needs to buck up.

"On Jan 23, my new B.yond decoder couldn’t be switched on. The next day, I noticed that the decoder was still not able to power up. I reported the problem and got a call from their technical support later in the evening, almost 11 hours after I complained," he says, adding that he was informed that the decoder might have some hardware problem and the technician will visit his house to replace the unit.

IN response to our Hotline report headlined “Long wait for water meter refunds" published on Jan 21, a spokesperson for Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) clarifies that based on the company's standard procedure, water meter deposits will be refunded within 21 days provided that all the documents required for the submission are completed and in order.

DALJIT of Petaling Jaya is upset with the alleged lack of security at the Nissan Service Centre in Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur.

On Jan 19, DALJIT sent his Nissan Urvan van for regular service at the centre at noon. When he later picked up his vehicle at 4.30pm, he accidentally left his bag at the reception desk.

GOOD news for Touch n Go users!

From this month, purchase and reload of Touch n’ Go cards can be done at Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong's (LDP) Petaling Jaya Selatan toll lay-by (North-bound near the Esso station) and at  SPRINT's Bukit Kiara toll plaza (KL-bound).

These dedicated counters will provide greater convenience for road users and increase electronic toll collection usage on both highways.

The Touch n’ Go point-of-sale centres are open on Monday to Thursday from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

On Friday the hours are 8.30am to 5.15pm.

TENGKU of Puchong is frustrated with the long delay of a refund promised by P1 WiMAX after terminating her account.

According to the terms and conditions, P1 WiMAX shall refund all fees to the subscriber via mailed cheque within 45 days.

"I signed up for the package on Oct 18, 2009, and the items were returned to the P1 WiMAX's agent on Nov 4. The termination was later confirmed by them," says TENGKU.

AS a card credit holder, JACOB of Klang is wondering when banks in Malaysia will release its official notification on the government's new RM50 service tax on credit cards.

"Banks which issue credit cards are telling customers that there is still no official notification yet on whether the government's service tax is in operation," he says.

"All those with several credit cards would like to know early as some would surely want to terminate some of their credit cards."

TAN of Petaling Jaya alleges that Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) has "manipulated" her bills to strike out her credit balance.

"The actual meter readings on my bill dated Sept 2 last year was at 416 to 426 but the Syabas statement recorded 416 to 438. I was billed 22m3 at RM14.38," she claims, adding that these errors were not rectified  even after she lodged a complaint.

JEFFERY of Kajang, Selangor, claims he has not been getting his fire insurance policy papers after renewing the policy each year.

"For the past five years, I have not received any insurance policy papers from AmG Insurance Berhad except for their annual notice reminding me to renew the policy."

JEFFERY, who uses an old  address belonging to his brother, says his sibling is around to receive any letters on his behalf and would have handed over any insurance policy papers from AmG.

ONNY of Taman Seri Keramat, Kuala Lumpur, alleges a breach of ethics by car repossessors  from a financial institution.

According to him, repossessors of AmBank (M) Berhad showed up at his house on the morning of Jan 11 when they forcibly moved his car that was parked outside the front gate and triggered the car's alarm.

ONNY claims the repossessors proceeded to hook up the car to a tow truck without informing him of what was happening.

DEVAMALA lives in fear in her Taman Maluri, Cheras, neighbourhood. And all  because of a wild monkey
roaming there. The monkey has been  terrorising the neighbourhood, specifically the Jalan Wirawati 1,2 and 3 localities, the past few months, she says.

“It is scary. Sometimes,  early in the mornings when our children leave for school, it will be sitting in front of our house and the children are too frightened to leave the house.”
