Former Information D-G Datuk Abas Salleh dies
MUAR: Former Information director-general Datuk Abas Salleh died at his house in Jalan Yahya, Parit Perupok here last night. He was 64.
His second son, Fazli, told Bernama his father collapsed and experienced breathing difficulties at about 7pm and died 15 minutes later.
Abas retired as the Information D-G in 2002. He leaves behind a widow Datin Yom Ahmad and four sons aged between 23 and 36 years.
His eldest son Dr Adly Ariff, 36, is working in Perth, Australia while Fazli, 32, is a lecturer at the Melaka Multimedia University.
Abas's third son Amry Amin, 31, is working at the Malaysian Institute of Nuclear Technology Research in Bangi while his youngest son, Hasmy Iman, 23, is pursuing studies in information technology at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
His remains were buried at noon today. -- Bernama
