Bangladeshi scrap metal collector killed by train
PETALING JAYA: A Bangladeshi scrap metal collector was killed after he was hit by a KTM Komuter train at KM7.6, Jalan Klang Lama here yesterday.
In the 11.30pm incident, the victim, in his early 30s, was believed to be busy collecting scrap metals along the railway track when a Klang-bound train passed by and hit him.
Petaling Jaya police chief, Assistant Commissioner Arjunaidi Mohamed said the victim was thrown off about 10 metres from the tracks and died on the spot. His remains was taken to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem.
Checks revealed that the spot is also a popular short cut among residents in the surrounding area.
