A big thank you

Hearsay
IF you haven't noticed, which is highly improbable – Hear, Say… is now slotted on a new day — Tuesdays from this week onwards.

This is one of the changes in the jazzed-up new look of The Malay Mail.

Which brings us to the big thank you’s that are in order to all artistes who showed up for the event last Wednesday.

The line-up? So many, headed by our emcees, The Malay Mail columnist and showbiz personality Zainal Alam Kadir, TV sweetheart Marion Caunter as well as divas for the night, Ning Baizura and Atilia - two of the best entertainers around who got the party started, and kept it going with their fantastic voices.

Thanks to (deep breath in order) Dynas Mokhtar, Sazzy Falak, Yasmin Hani, Vanessa Chong, Datin Seri Tiara
Jacquelina, Datuk Seri Farid, Rina Omar, Saerah, Dayang Nurfaizah and Jaclyn Victor among many others.

Then there were the couples in Anita Sarawak (and hubby abang Mahathir, who both postponed an event in
Singapore to join us), Mawi and Ekin, Audi Mok and Nikki, Vanidah Imran and Rashidi Ishak as well as Nur Aliah
Vee and her very shy fiancé.

Former journalist and actress Fatimah Abu Bakar and hubby were also present, sans their starry offsprings
(Aleya, Amani, Aryana, Aleysha) as they apparently were down with conjunctivitis.

Thank you again one and all, and Hear, Say… will be there for you guys. After all – any publicity is always good publicity, right?

Words were truly misintepreted

Sazzy Falak
HAVING caught up with Sazzy Falak and hubby Nazril Idrus at the relaunch party, we wanted the inside scoop
on her supposed spat with Dira over the comments exchanged on social networking sites.

Sazzy however told us, she and Dira have no problems, and that the matter which sparked from her comments were on something totally unrelated.

Still, looks like others have jumped on the bandwagon, including this particular actress who used the same approach and insinuated negative observations on Sazzy's character.

Now really... it's only a TV show. Chill already.

Linda Jasmine
Get well soon, Linda Jasmine

LINDA Jasmine and hubby Que Haidar wanted to join The Malay Mail Relaunch Party last week, but we hear she is recovering from her caesarian. We wish her well, and hopefully all will be good.

Nikki pulled out for safety reasons

NO thanks to the overzealousness of some of our local music fraternity, and even worse, the so-called fans,
the anti-Indonesian music sentiment is still simmering.

Unfortunately for us, if nothing is done to remedy the situation, Malaysians may just end up the biggest losers seeing how our music market is puny, if it can even be compared to the size of the industry in the republic.

Latest victim of the backlash of the anti all things Indonesian movement, is pop singer Nikki. We hear that she was slotted to perform as the only Malaysian act at Soundrenaline 2009 in Bali – the country’s biggest music festival which drew some 70,000 fans.

However due to fears for her safety onstage on how the reception might go, organisers apparently decided to
call off Nikki’s participation.

What a shame, as it would have been nice for one of our best vocalists to have performed at Soundrenaline
to showcase a representation of our upcoming talents.

Ella uncontactable and missing in action

Ella
WHAT is it with Ella?

It has been going on for a long time now. Recently, even those around the singer have been relating that the media’s experience of not being able to contact her is nothing new.

Those who have working relations with the queen of Rock, have expressed disappointment with the singer, as well as that of Jojie, her sister cum manager, who has also not been the easiest person to get in touch with – let alone return calls.

It’s a shame, as her status allows for people to seek her for publicity. Until when, will she play the diva?

To Ella and Jojie, we love you, but you need to sort things out.

Upper echelons only

Ning
Reliable sources inform us that Ning Baizura is opening up a jazz lounge of sorts catering to the elite, located somewhere in the Hartamas area.

Word has it that the club will begin operations early 2010 as work on it has almost been completed.

We wish diva Ning good luck, especially when we hear that sponsors are pouring in to back the establishment.

We’re sure Ning will do well.

Looks like not having a manager is not a bad thing when it comes to Ning.
