SHAH ALAM: Today Selangor got an early start in celebrating the 64th birthday of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, with its Charity Run called 'Larian Rakyat' at the new developed modern township i-City in Section 7, Shah Alam.
The Charity Run saw more than 1,500 eager runners from Selangor and the rest of Klang Valley participating in the eight categories -- two categories for the 10km run, four for the 7km run, and the 3km Family Run and 3km handicapped category.
Jointly organised by the Selangor State Government, Selangor Tourism, Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and the Selangor State Investment Centre, the Charity Run succeeded in amassing some RM12,000 to be distributed evenly between the Shah Alam Old Folks Home Association, Selangor Humanitarian Aid Mission (Pantas), Rumah Hope orphanage and Gombak abused women shelter.
