SHAH ALAM: After failing to show up numerous times at the Syariah High Court here, actress Lydiawati was finally present today to enable her lawyer to file an application against her ex-husband.

The application is to seek a return of wedding items and alimony payments from Azhar Mohd Zar amounting to RM103,000.

With Lydiawati present this morning, her counsel Nur Azmi Mohd Arif filed an application at the registrar's office seeking the high court's permission to issue a show cause letter to 35-year-old Azhar over his failure to adhere to a Lower Syariah Court decison made last May.

The case has been set for mention on Dec 24.

Lydiawati, whose real name is Salina Zaimon, 44, arrived wearing a blue baju kurung and was accompanied by her second daughter from her second marriage, Siti Nuranisah, 8.

She told reporters that since her divorce with Azhar on May 5, she has had no contact with him. Her marriage to Azhar was her third attempt at matrimony. The pair were married on June 6, 2008 but have no children.

The couple amicably divorced ‘talak satu’ on May 5 at the Kuala Langat Lower Syariah Court in Banting, citing irreconcilable differences.

Syarie judge Muhamad Fauzi Ismail had then instructed Azhar to return to the actress wedding items or its cash value (RM67,000) as well as ‘iddah’, ‘mutaah’, alimony (nafkah) worth RM30,000 as well alimony arrears (tunggakan nafkah) of RM6,000.

It was reported that when Azhar failed to pay up the RM103,000, Lydiawati had wanted numerous times to file a summons against her ex-husband at the Syariah High Court here for his failure to comply with the Lower Syariah Court orders.

However, she had failed to turn up each time, the last being on Aug 27, citing personal reasons and today was the actress's fourth attempt to file the application.
