New Federal vice chief
KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor CID chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan (pic) will be the new head of the Federal police vice, gambling and secret society branch.
He will take up his appointment next month.
It was learnt the current department head, Datuk Ahmad Sofian Md Yassin, will be moving to Sarawak police contingent as its administrative head.
The transfer order was issued on Tuesday as part of the Royal Malaysian Police senior officers transfer exercise. Hasnan confirmed the move but declined comment.
Ahmad Sofian was Gua Musang OCPD before being transferred to Sentul.
He was there for two years before being promoted to head the Federal police vice, gambling and secret society branch with the rank of Senior Assistant Commissioner II.
Recent successes recorded by the Federal D7 unit include the bust of a massive moneylending syndicate, which had assets totaling around RM49 million.
One of the key players, a man in his 40s, was arrested three days ago following his return to Malaysia. He had fled the country to escape the blitz on the syndicate by the Home Ministry in July.
