KUALA LUMPUR: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng will be called up by the police for allegedly making a seditious comment during a speech at the first convention of Pakatan Rakyat on Dec 19.

Speaking to the media, Selangor Police Chief DCP Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said, Lim had made a seditious comment by saying that "Teoh Beng Hock was murdered".

"The police are still investigating the case and Teoh's inquest is still ongoing. How can he conclude that Teoh was killed? As a politician he can't just speculate and say what ever he wants. Let us do our job," he said.

Khalid also urged politicians to stop speculating as this may may cause tension and misunderstanding among the public.

"I would like to remind all politicians despite their political views to not make any statement which can create trouble for the nation. We have rules," he said.

On Saturday, Pakatan Rakyat's first convention was held at the MBSA auditorium in Shah Alam and was attended by its leaders.

A police report was lodged on Monday against Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for the comment he made during the convention held on Dec 19.

Khalid added that the case is classified under the Sedition Act 1948.

The deceased, Lim was referring to is Teoh Beng Hock who was a witness in a case investigated by the Selangor MACC in relation to financial allocations for Selangor State representatives.

Events leading to his death remained a mystery in the absence of a CCTV system at the high security area of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) Selangor headquarters in Shah Alam.

Teoh was found dead outside Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam that houses the Selangor MACC office on July 16.

More recently, his body was exhumed for a second post mortem at Sungai Buloh Hospital.

The exhumation was ordered, after Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand testified that Teoh's death may likely be a homicide and not suicide.

If i were to comment that A.Kugan was murdered. And was murdered in the hands of his captors in this case the Selangor police. Will this be seditious? Lim Guan Eng made an assumption in a private place, in a private meeting. Is this againts the law? Recalled that Hishamuddin the previous Education minister raises his malay traditional dagger (keris) and swore that he will bathes his kris with non bumiputra's blood in a private meeting , in a private place but in front of national television broadcast. Which of the above will be much more serious? I hope the selangor police will be able to give a direct answer. This is of public interest. As there cannot be 2 sets of different rules and laws .
