KUB launches PROBIT

It's the first GLC to offer 24-hour IT services

PETALING JAYA: In an effort to strengthen its information communication and technology (ICT) division, KUB Malaysia Bhd through its subsidiary Empirical Systems (M) Sdn Bhd, this morning launched an IT managed service solutions called PROBIT.

An MoU (memorandum of understanding) was signed with three local ICT players, IBH Solutions Sdn Bhd, Techlab Securities Sdn Bhd and VXS Global Network (M) Sdn Bhd.

KUB Malaysia chairman, Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Samad, said that the system targeted mainly goverment
and large corporate sectors.

" In the government sector we are looking at the education and defence sectors and in the corporate world we are looking at the financial and utilities sector."

Abdul Halim added that KUB has approached about 60 companies in total from the private and government
sectors and is confident of getting new deals this year. A total of RM 2 million was spent in the last two years developing the system.

The partnership saw KUB Malaysia entering the lucrative IP managed service provider (MSP), becoming the first government-linked company in the country to roll out end-to-end round the clock information technology
services that include managed desktop, managed backup and recovery and managed content filter.

Its group managing director, Datuk Mohd Nazar, said: "In the face of challenging macro-economic environment,
we are joining hands to address the IT needs of the country's business community."

PROBIT is an MSP that offers a systematic approach to managing an organisation's IT needs, providing 24-hour monitoring and management of the organisation's IT infrastructure.

It provides backup and recovery operations as well as offers all-in-one service which include intrusion detection system and firewall, performing security assessment and security audit also responding to emergencies.

Operating on remote monitoring and management (RMM) technology platform, this jointly developed product can be used for businesses in various industries and government agencies to improve efficiency as well as promote cost-saving at any stage of the IT life cycle.

The three parties were also appointed as the local distributor and technology partners for the service.

Those present at the signing ceremony were CEO of Empirical Systems, Mohd Fadzli Ghazali, the managing director of IBH Solutions, Mohd Izam Sahab, managing director of Techlab, Bernard Chen and Dr. M.C. Sajiv, director of VSS Global.

The launching ceremony was officiated by Deputy Minister of Science, Techology and Innovation, Senator Fadilah Yusof.
