KUALA LUMPUR: There will not be any communication breakdown from now on as World No 1 Lee Chong Wei and coach Misbun Sidek signed a sponsorship deal with telecommunication giants Maxis for the year at a leading hotel in Bukit Bintang this morning.

Both Chong Wei and Misbun were the brand ambassadors for Maxis last year. The Penangite is fresh from winning his sixth Malaysian Open title after defeating Thailand’s Boonsak Ponsana 21-13, 21-7 in the final at the Putra Stadium.

Prior to the Malaysian Open, Chong Wei also won the Korean Open in Seoul two weeks ago. Chong Wei is set to play a vital role in the nation’s campaign at the Thomas Cup in KL in May.

To celebrate the sponsorship, the celebrated duo joined 50 children of customers and employees, and their parents, to an exclusive luncheon. Maxis chief marketing officer Matthew Willsher expressed his pleasure in having both the sportsmen on board.

"They both epitomise high intelligence in their field, which has brought them to the pinnacle of success. They inspire Malaysians with their achievement and the manner in which they have achieved them," added Willsher.
