New commercial centre but no phone lines?
A BUSINESSMAN in Petaling Jaya finds it baffling that a brand new commercial centre – which is not even a third occupied – does not have enough phone and Internet lines for its tenants.
VICTOR set up a new office at a rented first-floor unit at the Dana 1 Commercial Centre in Kelana Jaya, in December last year, and after completing renovations, he applied for Telekom Malaysia Berhad's (TM) fixed line and Internet connections.
"I went to the Kelana Jaya TMpoint outlet on Dec 17 and applied for TM’s SME ONE package," he says.
"A month later, on Jan 15, I followed up with my application at the same TMpoint outlet. Imagine to my surprise
when I was informed by an officer that the port is full and there is not a single line available for Dana 1."
When VICTOR asked if the officer knows when TM intends to accommodate more lines for Dana 1, he was told they don’t know.
"I find it difficult to comprehend how a new commercial centre, which is not fully occupied and is probably less than a year old, does not have any more fixed phone lines and Internet connections for new tenants," he says.
● Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) clarifies that the situation faced by VICTOR was due to the unavailability of a port to serve the area at the moment."Recognising VICTOR's urgent NOT FULLY WIRED YET: Dana 1 Commercial Centre in Kelana Jaya – Filepic need for the service, we have taken immediate measures to expedite service delivery for the area," says a spokesperson.
"We have provisioned more ports to the area and TM has installed the service at his business premise on Jan 29. We have contacted VICTOR and he has verified that his connection is already working."
Meanwhile, VICTOR emailed Hotline to say:
"TM called and told me that I could get a fixed line and they arranged to have an installer to fix the lines at my office. They have also apologised for the inconvenience caused to me, which I understand and have accepted."
