Maid escapes gang-rape attempt
SUBANG JAYA: To escape from being gang-raped, a house-to-house cleaning maid fractured her leg when she jumped from the first floor of a five-storey apartment unit yesterday afternoon.
It is learnt the Indonesian went there as she was hired by three Nigerians to clean up their apartment at Court 10 condominium in USJ 14.
When the trio tried to rape her, the maid had little choice but to jump off from the balcony of the first floor unit. Police have since arrested one of the suspects.
"We heard a loud scream and then saw a woman covered in blood lying on the ground looked like she had fractured her leg as she could not stand up properly," said V. Mano, 54, a resident there for the past decade.
Another resident then called the police and an ambulance arrived within minutes. The woman was sent to University Malaya Medical Centre for treatment.
Subang Jaya police chief ACP Zainal Rashid, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said 15 police officers from the Subang Jaya headquarters and USJ 8 station were despatched to the scene after receiving a call about 12.30pm.
"The apartment unit was locked and when there was no response to our knocking on the front door, we had to force open the door but no one was in.
"When we search the apartment block, we found one of the Nigerian suspects hiding on the fourth floor and arrested him."
Zainal said they are looking for the two other suspects and will record a statement from the maid when she is better. Several residents told The Malay Mail they did not feel safe due to the rising presence of foreigners there over the past three years.
"Many times, they would drink and party all night long. Their behaviour is hard to tolerate," said Mano.
"When they rent units here, there would be two or three of them sharing a unit but over time, there may be eight or nine of them."
Another resident, who preferred to be known only as John, said he had seen the foreign tenants bringing prostitutes to their apartments.
"They must be mindful that most residents here have children," he said.

Subang Jaya police chief ACP Zainal Rashid, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said 15 police officers from the Subang Jaya headquarters and USJ 8 station were despatched to the scene after receiving a call about 12.30pm. Wonderful 15 police officers dispatched to an apartment to look for a suspect. this is incredible that 15 officers will look for a rape victim. God help we Africans here in Malaysia.
To my comment, I am not in support of rape neither am I in support of crime, but i appeal the authorities will carefully look into the matter coz i have confidence in Malaysian Police in sorting the case out accordingly. To the victim and suspect, I will say dont condemned anybody until medical examination proves that such was raped but to me, How can a Female cleaner went to an apartment where men are living alone to clean a house. I thought of cleaners coming to clean an apartment are usually 3 in Numbers will a supervisor then how come 1 person.
To Buddy, I want to ask you a question, what is your nationality? and have you been able to travel around? I pity for people like you because you dont contribute to the development of any given community in any form with your comment. I am a British Lecturer in one of the Higher Institution in Subang Jaya and Please Buddy this is a Forum to comment on way forward and not condemnation.
If this issue is true let the suspects face the dance but MMail dont generalized the issue. Let here from the Victim first if she will not be forced to turn the statement. I lost a Phone here in Malaysia and up till now my statement in the police is like a waste.
Furthermore, I will advice the Cleaners to first when going to clean a house/apartment should first get to know the Passport Number of the tents/a copy of his passport, His Occupation ID Card then submit it to the Apartment/House Guard and again should accompanied by a male supervisor. Thank you
