Victim of snatch theft for a second time

KLANG: Elaine Wong, 27, can only pray she won't be third time unlucky after becoming a snatch theft victim for the second time yesterday morning.

Worse, the latest incident happened right outside her house in Taman Bukit Kuda here while she was leaving for work.

She had not suspected anything amiss when she was approached by two men on a motorcycle, "asking for directions".

"They asked if I could help direct them to a nearby address. When I got a little closer, the pillion rider suddenly snatched my handbag," Elaine said.

The pillion rider had pulled out a knife.

"I just could not believe it. I really thought they wanted to ask for directions."

To add further insult to injury, Elaine said the pillion rider then demanded the keys to her car.

That was when Elaine screamed for help, causing the culprits to panic and flee.

"I feared something worse when he asked for my car keys. So, I just screamed for help and was lucky they left."

Elaine lost her handbag, which contained RM150 cash and a mobile phone.

Early last year, while she was walking towards the Masjid Jamek LRT station in Kuala Lumpur, a teenage boy suddenly grabbed Elaine's mobile phone from her hands and ran off.

Elaine lodged a report at the Klang police headquarters.
