KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom Axiata Bhd  caused hurried footsteps among its customers, who last Friday rushed to get in line at Chinoz Suria KLCC for the exclusive BlackBerry Storm2 9520 discount offer.

The offer rewarded the first 150 customers with a new Storm2 9520 device priced at only RM888 instead of the usual RM1,988. As it was only available from 4.30pm to 10pm that day, customers began lining up in front of the restaurant from as early as 2.30pm.

A similar scenario took place at the Pavillion Kuala Lumpur on Jan15 during the launch party for the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 and BlackBerry Storm2 9520 smartphones, with customers standing in line to take home the Bold 9700 for only RM988.

Proud to be the first in Malaysia to launch the BlackBerry Storm2 9520 smartphone, Celcom continues to strengthen its position as the BlackBerry market leader by constantly introducing new products for better mobility and connectivity. Ensuring the best for its customers, Celcom is now expanding the BlackBerry experience from corporate customers to the mass market,  focusing on the youth segment.

Celcom's chief marketing officer Chee Pok Jin said: “We are trying to reposition the BlackBerry brand from a business phone to a device suited for the mass retail market. Currently holding 52 per cent market share of the BlackBerry segment in Malaysia, we provide flexible plans with affordable and reliable voice, email, instant messaging and social networking communications for our customers’ varying mobile lifestyle needs.”

The new BlackBerry Storm2 9520 smartphone delivers high performance with new features and improved touchscreen technology. Its refined, smooth design and high-speed 3G network connectivity enable faster web browsing or email viewing, equipped with a large high-resolution display screen, 3.2 megapixel camera and enhanced multimedia playback.

The BlackBerry Storm2 9520 are available for Celcom customers in Malaysia at all participating Celcom Blue Cube outlets nationwide.

If one has the means & wants to get hold of a Blackberry or whatever gadget it is for that matter, regardless of what the usage is for, it's his/her prerogative. It's not for you or anyone to say what other people should or should not buy. it's their money for god's sake. why do you care so much why people buy stuff & what they use it for nways? so what if they dont connect to their office email? too bad that all gadgets have become a trend these days, we just have to deal & live with it.

anothe case of up the trend on Blackberries phone just like the I-phone. Other than using Blackberries for your usual office email checking, how many outside actually connected back to their "office email system"? or are they using blackberries just for checking webmail or replying text smses, then it's not buying a blackberry handphone. you buy what you need, not for features you don't use.
