Sony Vaio unveils four new series

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Sony Vaio brand and to celebrate the occasion, four new series — the Vaio Z, S, F and Y were unveiled with a bang at Low Yat Plaza last week.

New features include the Vaio button, for instant access to the Media Gallery and the Assist button for easy access to Vaio Care for basic maintenance and troubleshooting.

The highlights of the new series include the Vaio Z series, a premium package catered to the needs of business executives and professionals.

The Z series is equipped with Intel’s Corei7 CPU and a Quad solid-state drive. Not to mention two graphics accelerators — an external Nvidia GeForce GT 330M GPU and internal Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD.

The casing — a sleek one-piece milled aluminum plate and Hybrid Carbon makes for a robust and lightweight casing housing a backlit keyboard with ambient light sensors and a 13.1-inch wide full HD LCD display with LED backlight.

Prices start from RM5,999 and is available in two colours — Black and Premium Carbon. For those who need an all-rounder, the Vaio S series is intended for them.

Weighing in at 2kg, it sports a 13.13-inch WXGA LCD display with LED, WLAN/Bluetooth, webcam and HDMI output. It comes pre-installed with Windows 7 and is equipped with an Intel Core i5, Nvidia GeForce 310M GPU with 512MB of dedicated video memory.

All these for a starting price tag of RM4,299. In line with the 10th anniversary of the Vaio series, Sony will be giving out ang pow rebates of up to RM300 for any purchase of a Vaio series notebook at participating outlets from now until Feb 28.
