Ribery may leave in search of trophies
MUNICH: Bayern Munich star winger Franck Ribery admitted he may have to leave Germany in pursuit of trophies while revealing that France teammate Thierry Henry would love to see him at Barcelona.
"I get on very well with Henry. I know that he would like to see me there," Ribery told RTL Radio. "I know people want me to stay with Bayern. But whether I stay or go, it will not be an easy decision."
The 2008 German Footballer of the Year also revealed concerns that his career may pass him by without ever winning a major trophy.
"I want to win trophies and enjoy myself. I do not have 20 years, I'm closer to the end of my career,” said Ribery.
Ribery also acknowledged that while Bayern are a massive club, he felt the squad are still some way behind Europe’s best.
"Bayern are still a big club. They are one the biggest in the world but I feel our team are not as strong as other teams like Barca, Real Madrid, Manchester United or Chelsea," he said.
Ribery is still mulling over Bayern’s latest offer of a new contract and has been heavily linked with both Barca and Real over the last few weeks.
